Wedding guest Make-up: A Pro’s Guide to Achieving a Flawless look

We’ve all got summer on our minds and rightly so! So we sat down with Pervier, founder of Preen Make-Up, to find out how we can achieve the perfect glowy make up look whether you're attending a glamorous beach wedding, have a girls night out planned indulging in Negronis or hosting a fabulous garden party.

Start with a clean, moisturized face.

Cleanse your face thoroughly and moisturising it with a lightweight moisturiser that won’t clog your pores. Even if you have oily skin moisturising is key to achieving a flawless makeup base when applying makeup.

To Prime or not to prime?

Over the years I’ve used primers less and less and have found that if the skin is correctly prepped there is very little need to add extra products to your routine. So, I tend not to use primers but if you’re after something to create a glowy base I love the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless filter under foundation to help even the skin tone slightly and create a lovely ‘lit from within’ glow. If you can’t get your hands on the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter then try the ELF Halo Glow liquid filter it’s an amazing dupe!

Laying down the foundations

I would then recommend using a lightweight foundation: For a summery look, use a lightweight foundation that will allow your skin to breathe. Apply it with a foundation brush first something dense like the Real TechniquesExpert Face Brush and then pat it in further into the skin with damp Beauty Blender or a powder puff. This will remove any excess product and really work the product into the skin helping it last longer and look natural. I swear by Armani Beauty Luminous Silk foundation but if you’re on a budget then the L’Oréal True Skin foundation is fabulous alternative for this.

Glow get it!

Apply a cream highlighter to the high points of your face, such as your cheekbones, brow bone, and cupid’s bow. Blend it out with your fingers or a brush for a natural glow.

Add some bronzer, Apply a light dusting of bronzer to your cheeks, temples, and jawline for a sun-kissed look. I love the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Kissed Glow Bronzer, the shades are amazing, they have the perfect undertone where it never leaves you looking orange and the creamy formula blends effortlessly into the skin.

Always use peachy blush, choose a peachy blush for a natural flush of colour, and never skip this step! Lots of clients feel a bit apprehensive about blusher but it really helps brighten the skin tone and pulls a look together. Apply it to the apples of your cheeks and blend it out towards your temples. If you apply too much you can always go over with your beauty blender to even it out, remember it’s easy to build up a product slowly rather than take away afterwards.

Then go onto apply a shimmery eyeshadow. Choose a shimmery eyeshadow in a neutral shade and apply it to your eyelids. Use a darker shadow along the lash line to create a soft eye line to define the eyes. Finally finish with a couple coats of mascara my all time fave is the L’Oréal Telescopic mascara it really lifts and define lashes beautifully without clumping them.

The finishing touches

Once you’re happy with your look lock it all in place with a light dusting of powder such as the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish powder, this is absolutely magic, it contains rose wax and almond oil so it never looks powdery or cakey and doesn’t sit in fine lines and wrinkles. It mattifies the areas where you may go oily throughout the day and really helps the longevity of the makeup.
