How to bring more self care into your daily routine, even when life feels too busy

Rosie Baggott Yoga

I know being a Girl Boss running the world is a full time job (and someone’s gotta do it, right?!) I also know you don’t need me to tell you that Self Care is super important. Morning routine, green juice, yoga, journaling - you’ve got it all under control and ticked off the To Do List.  But let’s be real, when life gets busy…do your Self Care rituals start to dwindle?  Being That Girl is the last thing on your mind when there’s money to be made, a household to run and not enough hours in the day.

Now, I’m not going to patronise you or make you feel bad about letting your Me Time slip, BUT what I will say is… You deserve better. You *know* you’re unstoppable when your Self Care is on point. You feel more inspired, more creative - bigger, bolder and badder.  So, because I love ya, I’m going to let you into three mini hacks to use when you feel out of step with your Self Care rhythm:

1. Ditching the To Do List.

Ever feel like your To Do List is just an anxiety inducing habit? Let me tell you, when I say ditching To Do’s was life changing for me, I mean it!  Start by reducing your daily To Do List to a weekly To Do List  and challenge yourself to prioritise your tasks by keeping this list to one sheet of A5 only. Over time, you’ll begin to trust yourself to go with the flow each day without making a list at all. I stole this idea from Kate Northrup’s book ‘Do Less’ and I’ve not looked back since.

2.  Lucky Girl Mantras

These mantras are INCREDIBLE for crushing those gremlins in your head telling you that you’re ‘not enough’. I repeat mantras out loud or in my head whenever I feel an anxious moment coming on… Here are some of my faves:

‘The more I put my Self Care first, the more productive I am’

‘I always have more than enough time’

‘Everything always works out without me lifting a finger.’

3. Playful Practice/Workouts

If you feel like doing that same old Yoga class on YouTube is just another chore you have to complete, no wonder it’s hard to keep it up when your life gets hectic. Making your workouts more fun is a great way to stay consistent whilst reconnecting with your creative inner kid.  So, tell me, when was the last time you tried to do a handstand? ;-)

Remember - you can be immersed in Self Care *and* killing the game in your work and family life. You can have it all! Now, get on that Yoga mat and show yourself some love.
