FOCUS ARCHITECTS: Meet Myles
Shropshire born and raised RIBA|ARB chartered architect Myles Sharples returns to his home county to launch his new design practice Focus Architects.
We grabbed a couple of matchas and got chatting about his new venture
After a 2-year planning battle throughout the Covid Pandemic Myles Sharples, Director & Founder of new practice Focus Architects, has prevailed with planning permission for arguably the largest self-build eco home in the region. The spectacular new build containing luxury living, garages, cinema and spa is partially embedded within the embankment of the sloping countryside site.
Focus are an inclusive design led practice championing a harmonious collaboration between client, architect, and construction team. We believe that everyone at some point plays the role of architect designing and navigating the many complicated decisions that comprise modern day life.
Our unique practice approach recognises that one of the most important architectural phases is project inception which stems from client brief and project opportunity, we as architects purely utilise our experience and technical understanding to help develop our clients’ aspirations into reality.
We carefully and respectfully invest in our clients to better understand their lives, careers and passions…
we often find them to be dazzled by our interests about the vintage car in the garage… horsebox on the drive or collection of artworks in the kitchen when we came to discuss an extension…
but it is this subconscious indirect work that makes our architectural product what it is!
We believe buildings should respond to their surroundings and existing characteristics, truly great architecture lasts the test of time because the inherent design attributes remain present regardless of the use or occupancy, meaning a well-designed space will serve many uses because of its precise and special architectural properties.
We have been very fortunate as a practice to have been entrusted on some amazing projects. These opportunities have really allowed us to test our skills and demonstrate our rigour and passion for great architecture at all scales and budgets whilst our commercial involvement ensures our technical knowledge is hardened keeping us grounded and resilient.
Every scale of project brings us excitement and the effects these projects have on the users can be truly joyful, we use a hybrid of the latest technology and CGI as well as traditional sketching and model making to deliver a totally bespoke experience where our clients fully understand the evolving design.
